About Us

Lifewater Community Kenya (LCK) is a registered Public Benefit Organization (PBO) dedicated to improving the quality of life of vulnerable and underserved communities across Kenya through sustainable, community-led development initiatives.

Our Story

Lifewater Community Kenya (LCK) was born out of a simple yet powerful vision of faith, compassion, and service. In 2022, Francis Ogola, his wife, Joyce Raphael, and four other team members from the community founded the organization after witnessing firsthand the daily struggles faced by vulnerable families living in the Kibera informal settlement in Nairobi, Kenya.

Having experienced poverty and hardship themselves while living in Kibera, Francis and Joyce understood the challenges that many families endured. Rather than allowing these circumstances to discourage them, they responded with faith. They began inviting a small group of vulnerable men, women, and children into their home each week for prayer, encouragement, and fellowship. These gatherings became a source of hope for families facing hunger, unemployment, illness, and uncertainty.

Although the couple had very limited financial resources, they believed that God could use ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things. Together with the community, they prayed faithfully, trusting God to open doors that seemed impossible. As they listened to the needs around them, they became increasingly burdened by the number of children unable to attend school because of poverty.

Their experience in Kabondo East Ward within Homa Bay County where they relocated later in relation to water inaccessibility forced them to find a lasting solution. Driven by this vision, Francis and Joyce began mobilizing support from friends, churches, and well-wishers to dig simple water wells as a starting point before they would embark on long-term deep borehole drilling and respond to urgent community needs. What started as a small act of faith soon grew into a community-based organization dedicated to transforming lives through practical service and Christian compassion.

Over the past several years, God has faithfully expanded the work of Lifewater Community Kenya. Today, the organization serves hundreds of families across Kenya, with a growing focus on Homa Bay County and the wider western Kenya region. Through strategic partnerships and the generosity of donors, LCK has successfully constructed 10 community water wells and is currently rehabilitating 30 additional wells.

Word from the Executive Director

Dear Friends, Partners, Donors, and Supporters,

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to Lifewater Community Kenya (LCK). Access to safe water is not merely a basic human needβ€”it is the foundation of health, dignity, education, food security, and sustainable economic development. Yet, many families across rural Kenya continue to face the daily challenge of walking long distances in search of unsafe water, exposing them to preventable diseases and limiting opportunities for growth and prosperity.

At Lifewater Community Kenya, we are committed to transforming lives by working hand in hand with communities to provide sustainable solutions in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), health, livelihoods, environmental conservation, and community empowerment. We believe that lasting development begins when communities are empowered to take ownership of the solutions that improve their lives.

Our journey has been marked by significant milestones. In 2024, with the generous support of our partners, we successfully constructed ten (10) community water wells in Kabondo/Kasipul Constituency, bringing safe and reliable water closer to hundreds of families. Building on this success, we are currently implementing the rehabilitation of thirty (30) previously uncompleted community water wells in Kabondo East Ward, Kasipul Constituency, Homa Bay County, in partnership with African Well Fund (USA). This initiative will restore access to clean water for thousands of people while improving health, education, food production, and household incomes.

These achievements would not have been possible without the dedication of our staff, volunteers, Board of Directors, local leadership, community members, and our valued partners and donors. On behalf of Lifewater Community Kenya, I extend our deepest appreciation to each of you for believing in our vision and investing in the lives of the communities we serve.

While we celebrate our progress, we recognize that much work remains. Thousands of vulnerable households still lack access to safe water, adequate sanitation, quality healthcare, and sustainable livelihood opportunities. Addressing these challenges requires strong partnerships, innovation, and a shared commitment to creating lasting change.

"Together, we can build healthier communities, strengthen resilience, reduce poverty, and create opportunities for future generations."

Thank you for your continued trust, partnership, and support.

With sincere gratitude,
Mr. Ogola Ndonga
Executive Director

Community approach

Our Approach

LCK's approach is to mobilize and sensitize community leaders to help community members take proper care of their own environments. By partnering with donors, supporters, churches, and other NGOs, we provide relief support, training, development activities, water and sanitation, education, HIV awareness, and resources so that the people we serve can continue along the path to self-sufficiency.

We believe that every person deserves access to safe water, quality healthcare, dignified sanitation, and opportunities for economic growth. Guided by this belief, we partner with communities, government institutions, development agencies, faith-based organizations, the private sector, and international donors to design and implement high-impact programmes that address the root causes of poverty and inequality.

Our integrated approach focuses on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Health, Climate Resilience, Food Security, Sustainable Livelihoods, Education, and Community Capacity Strengthening. Rather than delivering short-term relief, we invest in long-term solutions that empower communities to become self-reliant, resilient, and capable of sustaining development long after project completion.

"

"We are regular people, reaching out to different people living in Kenya, making a difference since 2022, giving all the glory to God. You can be a part of this. You can make a difference."

In Acts 6:1-7, we read the story of the ministry of Jesus' disciples. They were overwhelmed trying to teach the word of God when there were such immense physical and economic needs of their people going unmet. They rallied together and appointed seven helpers to take care of the needs of the people. The result was honestly successful. The word of God spread.

So, at Lifewater Community Kenya, we are seeking out the seven men and women to join us (in reality, it's way more than seven!). Every one of us is gifted with certain talents and abilities, and we believe that in creating partnerships with individuals, churches, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) we can carry out our vision. We invite you to not only contribute financially, but to roll up your sleeves, come to Kenya, and participate in our work. Rally up your friends and family. Invest in our course. Build relationships with the people whose lives you touch. Be a part of our team. Be one of the seven.

Join Us in Making a Difference

Together, we can transform livesβ€”one community, one family, one water source at a time.
